The most interesting element of Food and Fun is the chef competition, which take place on the last day of the festival. The chefs compete by making three courses, made of Icelandic main ingredients. They have to make a fish course, a meat course and a dessert. The competition takes place in the kitchen of the Hotel and Restaurant School of Iceland. The competing chefs go to one of Reykjavik finest supermarket with their assistant cook student where they have an hour to shop for their ingredients for the competition. They cook for a grand international jury of chefs, journalists and other prominent persons in the food world. There will be awards for the best "Fish Course", the best "Meat Course" and the best "Dessert". At last there will be the overall "Reykjavik Food and Fun Festival - Chef of year 2010". Only one can win in each category.
